Refractometer Beer and Wine
A beer or wine refractometer is an easy to use instrument designed to measure the Specific Gravity (Wort) and Brix (Sugar) during the brewing and fermentation process.
Refractometers are optical instruments that require no batteries. When light passes through a liquid, it changes direction. A refractometer is capable of detecting that change, and can put it on specific measurement scale.
Use the included pipette to place a drop of the sample you want to measure on the glass plate of the refractometer. Close the lid, point the refractometer towards a light source and look through the lens to see the result.
When using a refractometer, make sure your sample and the refractometer have the same temperature. Clean it after each use and store in a dry place.
